Kuwait Life: Dar El Cid Exhibition Hall

The Dar El Cid exhibition hall, part of the Tareq Rajab Museum complex, hosts many cultural exhibitions and lectures. The museum complex is run by Tareq Rajab and his family, who have done an excellent job bringing culture to Kuwait.

When CSA, Ltd. employees visited Dar El Cid, the Kuwait Textile Art Association was sponsoring the exhibit. KTAA, under the auspices of Sadu House, promotes knowledge of textiles and sponsors lectures, classes and exhibits of textile art. This annual benefit, consisting of colorful quilts, benefits Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice.

All of the quilts were beautiful, but three were particular favorites: “Call to Prayer,” “African Kaleidoscope” and “Middle East Folk Dance.” “Call to Prayer” is designer Kathi Ewen’s first impression of Kuwait, encapsulating “wonder and awe at the diverse and wonderful world we live in.”
“Middle East Folk Dance” is a funky, fun display of movement and celebration. “African Kaleidoscope” is designer Patricia McGraw’s expression of “the love she and her husband have for Africa.” The detail on every quilt is amazing; colors and craftsmanship are enviable.
